About Bangor Breakfast Rotary

Rotary LogoRotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peach in the world.  The Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary (BABR) Club – one of the two Rotary clubs in Bangor – was chartered in 1989 and has enjoyed substantial growth and tremendous accomplishments in its 20-year history.

With membership now at approximately 70, this dynamic civic club brings much to the greater Bangor area.  From providing annual scholarships to area high school graduates, to supporting local human service projects, to encouraging teens to get involved in leadership and charitable works in the community, the BABR Club works to strengthen the communities in which we live.

The main objective of Rotary is service – in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.  The BABR Club’s primary charitable mission is to improve and enhance the quality of life for children at risk.  Beneficiaries of the Club’s charitable giving over the last several years have included the Bangor Y’s Jump Start program, Pathfinders – a program of the Bangor Area Visiting Nurses – and the Good Samaritan Agency.

The BABR Club has also participated in many other projects that befit the community including, preparing holiday food baskets for the needy, a reading program at the Downeast School, bell-ringing for the Salvation Army, collecting toys, baby blankets and quilts for children in Biloxi, Mississippi who were victims of Hurricane Katrina, and volunteering for the National Folk Festival.

Bangor Area Breakfast Rotary meetings are held weekly on Thursday mornings from 7:00-8:00 a.m. at the Sea Dog Restaurant.  For more information, please visit the club website at www.BangorBreakfastRotary.org.
